She Placed Her Little Hand In Mine
(In development)
A short film blending documentary material and fiction through found Super 8 footage.
A while ago, I came into possession of several Super 8 film reels. They were silent and non-chronological, and I received them without clear context. They came from different sources and were accompanied by fragments of background information, but none of it formed a complete picture. I did not know who had filmed them, for whom, or why they had been left behind.
As I began watching the material, two women appeared again and again. They were filmed on holiday, sometimes among other people, sometimes alone. Their presence recurred across the reels, without ever fully clarifying their relationship.
The more time I spent with the footage, the more patterns began to surface. With no sound and no fixed order to guide me, I began assembling the material intuitively, allowing associations to form. Watching the images became an act of construction. Meaning emerged gradually, shaped as much by what was missing as by what was visible.
She Placed Her Little hand In Mine is a short film blending documentary and fiction currently in development.
